A few words to Ms. Obama
Michelle Obama said something the other day that is being dismissed as a slight slip of the tongue. She said for the first forty decades of her life on this earth, she is proud of the American people because they are showing a tendency to vote for her husband for President.
I have no problem with a black person becoming President. I consider it inevitable, and possibly overdue.
I have problems with Michelle Obama’s remark.
Ma’am, I grew up where the Klan and white supremacy reigned. I grew up where “Impeach Earl Warren” was a mantra. I heard the word “nigger” in casual conversation more than you ever will in your life.
I knew from my earliest days that something was wrong. I couldn’t put words to it at first, but I knew instinctively that humans shouldn’t treat each other so wrongly.
You speak of “pride” in your country—yes, this is your country—I don’t like that “African-American” appellation; We are all Americans, and you aren’t prepared to be the First Lady of the most powerful country on the planet if you can’t accept that.
I have been proud of my country since I was a stupid kid standing in the street and railing against it. We have mistreated the Indians, we have mistreated the blacks. That is history; it is yesterday.
I was moved to tears by pride in my country the other day. They did something very simple; they brought the Space Shuttle down from the sky without blowing the damn thing up. Later that day, they blew up a missile, and no matter what the Russians or Chinese say, that simple act means America is a safer place.
Where have you been hiding for the last 40 years? I knew Georgia sharecroppers who called me “Massa” out of reflex; I ventured inside “Black Only” bathrooms in gas stations throughout the South. I never lost pride in this country. What is your message? I protested Vietnam; I don’t like pointless wars that can be wrapped in the shake of a lamb’s tail.
I also don’t like pointless racism. Your husband scares me; he won’t get my vote. What is your message, Ms. Future First Lady?

That just sounds like truth ,niot bigotry. Michelle is the Bigot.Slip of the tongue my,a--. There are many black people I would be delighted to vote for Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell just to name 2. they are way more than politicians they are Professors who actually are educated.
As for Obama,'He can compress the most words into the smallest idea
of any man I know.' A. Lincoln said that.But if you find what Obama really believes ,it is very frightening. I wouldn't be surprised if the United States were to find itself as a very small part of the United Nations at the end of Obama'a 4 years.With UN troops taking away what freedoms we have remaining.And we would have the draft, that would be Obama's way of cleaning up the streets.

I have problems with Michelle Obama's remarks too. She is 44 years old and has been adult since what... 18 years old?
So that means that for the last 26 years, M.O. has found nothing about America to be proud of. Since 1982, she has been living a hopeless existence of dreary boredom bereft of pride.
She had absolutely no pride in her country when:
- she was accepted into Princeton and Harvard, despite the fact she had what she says were lousy grades.
- Michael Jackson sold the biggest selling album of all time.
- we invented the personal computer or the Internet.
- we put the first woman, then the first black man, and then the first black woman into space.
- we crowned the first African-American Miss America.
- we established Martin Luther King Day as a federal holiday.
- Jesse Jackson announced his candidacy for president.
- the first space shuttle landed at the Kennedy Space Center.
- Reagan said "Tear down this wall!"
- the Sharon Pratt Dixon Kelly became the first black woman to be mayor of a major US city.
- the first black governor was elected in Virginia.
- Carol Mosely Braun became the first black woman to be a US Senator.
- Colin Powell became the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
- Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice became the first black man and woman to be Secretary of State.
- the first black woman became Poet Laureate.
- NY firefighters gave their lives on 9/11.
- passengers of United Flight 93 fought off the 9/11 hi-jackers crashing their plane in Shanksville, PA.
- Americans came together to help in the aftermath of 9/11.
- Americans donated overwhelmingly following the Tsunami in Asia.
And I could go on and on. She didn't get "really" proud of America until her husband ran for President. DUH!

Mrs. Obama's comments are truly sad but probably were agreed with by most liberal African Americans. I fear for our future.
I don't care for hyphenated citizens either; be just plain Americans or nothing.
Also, it seems to me that many of the votes Obama has received are more against Hillary than for him. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
